Louis Theroux’s “Jiggle Jiggle”: everything you need to know about TikTok rap

On TikTok? It is very possible that the voice of Louis Theroux is stuck in your head. His “jiggle jiggle” rap — yes, you know the one I’m talking about — has accompanied viral videos across the platform. Even ferrets and bumblebees indulge in it.

Whether you consider yourself a hard-core rap listener or have missed the sweet melody so far, here’s what you need to know.

Theroux, a British-American documentarian and son of famed novelist Paul Theroux, wrote the rap in an episode of his BBC 2 documentary series Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends. The episode aired in 2000. On February 18, Theroux was asked if he remembered rapping during an appearance on the YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, and he again went into star rapping mode.

This is the version of the jiggle-jiggle song we heard on TikTok. It’s no longer a cappella either, thanks to Manchester-based producers Duke and Jones. They posted their music video on March 16, and since then it has had over 50 million views.

The comments under the video go something like this: “I physically can’t stop listening to this.” “Na, it’s going hard.” And simply, “phenomenal”.

More videos using sound also poured in. Turns out you can apply jiggle jiggle rap to just about anything. Here’s a dog…dogging?

Boom. A million likes. This track is gold.

As for the inspiration for the lyrics? “Jiggle,” “wiggle,” and “dribble” apparently came to Theroux in the shower, according to Weird Weekends.

On the show, one of the rappers who helped Theroux write the track explained the rap’s iconic opening line, “My money don’t move, don’t move, it bends.”

“You don’t have quarters and pennies and nickels, you have dollars and hundreds and whatever,” he said. “And everything you have, it bends.”

If you need more Theroux raps in your life, we’ve got you covered. The BBC has released footage that includes a second verse of the jiggle-jiggle rap. Here’s the clip, which is from Louis Theroux: Life on the Edge, a new series from Theroux that revisits his past work.

More dribble incoming dribble.
