Can Batman beat Goku?

One is a billionaire who is the most superior human on his Earth. The other makes Superman look like a toddler. Who would win in a fight between Batman and Goku, or rather, does Batman have a chance? We’ll put the two characters against each other, examining their history, powers, abilities, and morality to see who will win.
Batman

Let’s start at the beginning. Bruce Wayne’s parents were killed in an alley when he was young. From there, something changed in him — his innocence died. He has sworn to use his parents’ wealth to ensure nothing like this happens again. Training in the most advanced forms of martial arts while studying criminals to become the world’s greatest detective, Bruce Wayne returned home to Gotham City prepared. He became the Batman, the Caped Crusader of crime, punishing criminals all over town. He’s fought crazed killer clowns, a thousand-year-old mystical swordsman, and a few gods.

Batman’s strengths come from his genius. Incredibly intelligent, Bruce Wayne rarely enters a fight unprepared. For example, in one of the best comic book fights of all time, Batman fought Superman in the graphic novel, Return of the Dark Knight. Bruce Wayne spent a lot of time planning his assault on Superman, forging Kryptonite weapons and defenses. He made himself a large armor, designed to take some of Superman’s punches. However, even Batman couldn’t take on the Man of Steel alone. He was accompanied by Green Arrow and his new Robin, Carrie Kelley. Even though he did all of that, Superman still got the better of him. But Batman’s goal wasn’t to kill Clark Kent – it was to prove a point, and that point was certainly made.

Arguably the most powerful character Batman has ever fought in the comics is Darkseid and they fought in the comics Final Crisis. Darkseid is the all-powerful ruler of Apokolips. Batman has fought him multiple times over the years and mostly come out on top, including the time Batman breached his rule and killed Darkseid with a super-powered alien gun. Darkseid used his Omega Beams at the same time, effectively killing Batman as Batman killed him. But Batman doesn’t kill if the enemy he’s fighting isn’t a threat.

Now that we’ve introduced the Dark Knight, let’s take a look at Goku.
Goku

Goku, whose birth name is Kakarot, was born on planet Vegeta and sent to Earth in a capsule, does this sound familiar? He is part of a race of warriors called the Saiyans who were sent to weak planets to support them as children. All Saiyans are powerful and Goku was no exception. Saiyans are also born with a tail, and when they gaze at the full moon as they say tail, they transform into a great ape, a towering mass the size of a building. Once Goku arrived on Earth, he forgot all of his Saiyan programming as he suffered a brain injury. He was raised by a martial arts master, named Gohan. Unfortunately, one night, Goku watched a full moon and accidentally killed the surrogate grandfather who raised him.

After his grandfather’s death, Goku mostly kept to himself until a girl named Bulma came to him to track down his grandfather’s four-star dragon ball. Once all seven dragon balls were collected, one could summon a great dragon named Shenron to grant a wish. He soon embarked on an adventure with his new friend and she soon discovered that this monkey boy was more powerful than he seemed. Goku then met a powerful martial arts master named Master Roshi and later trained with the guardian of planet Earth, Kami. All of this allowed Goku to become the man he was about to become and led to him defeating the demon’s son Piccolo in the World Martial Arts Tournament.

After the events of dragonball came Dragon Ball Z, and it’s here that Goku truly became the explosive fighter he’s famous for being. Here, Goku learned many different techniques. He learned Kaio-ken from King Kai after Goku was killed in the fight with Raditz. During the battle against Frieza he managed to transform into Super Saiyan and upgraded him with Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3 forms, later in the series Super Saiyan 3 was extremely powerful and would only be used ‘with parsimony. Becoming a Super Saiyan greatly increased his powers. The Super Saiyan form allowed Goku to strengthen his Kamehameha technique which he learned from Master Roshi. While Kamehameha might be Goku’s signature attack, his ultimate move is the Spirit Bomb which borrows energy from other willing participants to combine into a giant ball of energy, which proves devastating to opponents.

Goku also knows the Instant Transmission ability, which is the ability to teleport. Goku can also fly and is incredibly strong. In the few series Goku stars in, he battles a large number of enemies close to him in power. The amazing thing about Goku, and Saiyans in general, is that if they are killed or near death, when they recover they come back stronger, almost out of sheer willpower. This means that Goku always gets stronger to the point where he fights the almighty universes and gods instead of fighting Piccolo and Vegeta. Speaking of sparring, that’s what he fights for, to get stronger. He almost never fights to kill anyone, always seeing fights as opportunities to become more powerful.
The fight
Batman is one of the smartest people alive and possibly the smartest person to ever fight Super Saiyan Goku. If the two were to just fight each other, with no preparation time and until their last breaths, Bruce Wayne would last about a second. However, let’s say the Caped Crusader has had time to prepare. Goku has no weaknesses. Sure, he might be hungry, but there’s a good chance that even if Goku fought on an empty stomach, he’d still come out without a scratch on him. Goku can travel instantly and is not dependent on technology. Even if Batman were to go the stealth route, he would have a hard time getting the Saiyan to bleed.
The only way that could have seen Goku come close to being defeated by Batman is if Bruce had somehow found the Dragon Balls. Unfortunately, even if he were to collect all seven and make a wish, the dragon balls have serious limitations. Thus, Batman wouldn’t be able to weaken Goku with them and could only use them to power himself up to his own limits, not Goku’s. This means that even if he managed to collect all the Dragon Balls, Batman still wouldn’t stand a chance.

There is, however, the theme of fusion. If Batman were to convince a being as powerful as Goku, or at a similar power level, to merge with him, Batman would win. The Potara fusion earrings would work much better than the normal fusion dance because there’s a higher chance with the dance that if someone like Broly or Vegeta were to fuse with Batman, the resulting individual would likely be closer to the Batman’s power level than anyone else. With earrings, the power level would likely be a multiplication of the character’s power, making the resulting character more powerful than the fusion’s high-powered character. But that’s assuming that mid-fight Batman could somehow procure said earrings and a willing participant, which in an unprepared scenario would be impossible.
But if it were to come down to that and Batman and Goku had to fight with no help, no saves, and no prep time, Goku would defeat Batman. With one punch Batman would be down for the count, Bruce Wayne would be punched so hard it would make the moment his back was smashed by Bane look like a sweet pancake breakfast. Goku is just too powerful, especially in Dragon Ball Super. Goku wouldn’t even need to have become a Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan, or even go to his Kaio-ken levels to defeat the Dark Knight. A well-placed instant transmission, Kamehameha, would disintegrate Batman, and a punch from Goku would eviscerate him.

But, above all, both characters have a moral code that they use when fighting enemies. Both characters almost always refuse to kill their enemies, especially if those characters are good. If the characters were to fight, the chances of Goku obliterating Batman when he feels it are very slim. If anything, Batman would have to land the first punch, and even then Goku might not even let him land that punch. That being said, if he hit him, Goku would probably laugh it off, thinking Bruce was joking. Maybe a more frontal assault from Batman would get his attention, but Goku would use his ki to sense that Batman wasn’t a real threat.
Then again, even if Batman fought Goku while fused with someone, the odds of Bruce not killing him are incredibly high. Goku wouldn’t intend to harm the merged character and if Bruce understood that Goku was fighting defensively, which it wouldn’t take the world’s greatest detective to figure out, there’s no way Bruce would kill Goku .
The verdict
So even though Goku is immensely more powerful than Batman, if Batman had the chance to prepare against him, and if the fight took place in the universe of dragonball, Batman would be able to defeat Goku, but only then and most likely by merging with another character from this world. However, in the end, the two characters wouldn’t pose a threat to each other, as both characters wouldn’t intend to kill the other, with Goku battling Batman to hone his skills, while Batman would most likely fight for his ego. .
There you go, the fight probably wouldn’t even happen at all, or at least end in a draw. However, we all know that if the characters were to fight to the death, Goku would be the one to come out breathing.
