Brooklyn hip-hop artist HDBeenDope and Earl On The Beat reveal their upcoming project “Side A: The Preface” and a brand new music video
Brooklyn hip hop artist HDBeenDope and multi-platinum producer, Earl On The Beat have announced the release of their next joint project Side A: The Preface, which includes collaborations with artist Roc Nation Maeta and Field strip chip.
In support of the release, HD also released a brand new music video for “Lower it (Feat. Field strip chip).” Directed by HDBeenDope, the story of the video tells the theme of “staying in place” through luxurious shopping expeditions with a group of tall ladies before venturing down a boulevard with the roof down. The music video ends with colorful visuals, panoramic views of the balcony at sunset, mixed with a sweet moment between HD and its love.

“This project was meant to get uncomfortable,” said HDBeenDope. “LABB (Learn And Become Better) is the motto, which is ultimately about growth. It is at stake in my daily life and especially with this project. Working with a producer was different because I’m used to doing everything myself. Earl’s sounds forced me out of my normal approach to music and I thank him for that.
The highly anticipated project includes the single “ReallyMite,” which HD recently performed on VEVO CTRL Live Session. The release of Side A: The Preface marks the start of a momentous month for HD, filled with big-name performances on some of the country’s biggest stages, like Ride hard in New York foreseen for the end of October. HD’s highly anticipated live performance later this month marks the rapper’s final high-profile act since wrapping up his extensive college tour spanning the University of Richmond, College of New Jersey, Denison University, College of Wooster and many others.
“HD is really talented and we have similar working styles, which made it easier for us to collaborate,” said Earl on the beat.
Side A: The Preface is the multi-faceted powerhouse’s first release since dropping his second project Shattered dreams in 2020, followed by the song “Top”, featured in Madden NFL 21. The project showcased his signature storytelling style while blending the classic East Coast sound with a more minimalist trap approach. The project also featured guest appearances by Rodes Rollins, Mayila and Maeta, as well as the critically acclaimed fan-favorite single “Die With Me”. HYPeBEAST, DJBooth, XXL and more.
During 2019, he released a series of single singles, including “Cayman,” “Rev Run,” and the massive hit “BYRD,” an unrestrained trap-influenced song that earned over 23 million streams and views. to date and also featured in Madden NFL 21.
