We take great pleasure in inviting your participation at the 5th Global Symposium 2008 ‘Awakening Planetary Consciousness’ from 12th to 15th December 2008 at Lucknow, India. The details of this conference are available at www.wmgd.net/symposium

The Global Symposium is an annual event that has developed a world wide movement through a global partnership with civil society and educational organizations to establish sustainable development, world unity and world peace. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many to be proximate with some amazing people, aside from being able to directly help address major issues confronting the world today.

Global Symposium is an internationally recognised civil society conference which alloys a high-standard conference and a diverse intercultural festival in its programme.  The Conference is organized by the World Movement for Global Democracy (WMGD), an initiative of City Montessori School (CMS), Lucknow, India.  Global Symposium 2007 will take place in parallel to the 9th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World (World Judiciary Summit 2008). The Purpose of this International gathering, in the first instance, is to strengthen cooperation among the civil society to unite their efforts in world interest and to act and achieve our common goals by:  1) Laying a strong foundation of a nuclear-free, democratic, sustainable, just and peaceful world order by bringing together inter governmental agencies, global leaders, civil society organizations, corporate representatives, media and children and 2) Creating  a widespread awareness about issues like scarcity of safe drinking water, reform of governmental and corporate structures, more equitable distribution of resources, development of renewable energy programs and encourage dialogue to replace international conflict for achieving a breakthrough by creating a sustainable future.

The four major themes of Global Symposium are as follows: 1. Structure of World Democracy & World Parliament, 2. World Religions, Spirituality and Culture 3.  Education, Human Rights, Grass root Movements and Role of Civil Society and 4.  World Peace and Sustainable Development

There is no registration or participation fee. All delegates from abroad will be provided with complimentary boarding and lodging (accommodation and meals) facilities at our guest house along with transport within Lucknow city (Local Transport) from. The delegates are expected to manage their own travel expenses to and from Lucknow city. 

At this point we are provisioning for nearly 300 Participants, selected from around the world. Participants’ invitations will be on a first come/ first processed basis, so the sooner we receive your nominations, the earlier we can process them.

We request all Prospective Participants to fill the attached consent form and send it to us as soon as possible by email or fax.  After you have sent us this consent form, we will ask you to fill the registration form in the second step.  Approval of participation is subject to the final decision by the Organizing Committee. We will notify you of our acceptance decision* and send you information on accommodation and your role in the Global Symposium by 30 September 2008.  We also send a personalized invitation and visa letter once your participation is approved.

We are determined to think in a long-term strategy so as to realise an international network of civil society, corporate representatives, media, educators and children for securing the future of present generations and those yet to be born. We truly believe that your personal experience and example would give outstanding inspiration for young people to be open, respectful and responsible in their activities and own life.
