Upon the recommendation of the
members of jury, Mr Jagdish
Gandhi, President of World
Movement for Global Democracy (WMGD)
and Founder-Manager, City Montessori
School (CMS), Lucknow, India
announced the result World Peace
Film and Music Awards 2008 today.
The nominations for the awards were
received for the World Peace Film
and Music Festival 2008 that was
organized by the World Movement for
Global Democracy (WMGD) during the 5th
Global Symposium: ‘Awakening
Planetary Consciousness’ and 9th
International Conference of Chief
Justices of the World from 12 to 15
December 2008 organized by City
Montessori School, Lucknow, India.

The film Der lachende Hund
(Smiling Dog) produced by
Daniel Mann & Marco Gilles and
directed by
Shohreh Jandaghian was
awarded the $500 cash prize as the
best film among all the
entries received for the World Peace
Film Award.
Smiling Dog,
Original title Der Lachende Hund,
Short Film/ Animation/ Drama, 8
minutes 33 seconds, without
dialogue, director by Shohreh
Jandaghian, produced in 2007. The
Country of origin of this short film
is Germany. The film is based on a
little girl. In the world where
adults make wars and destroy each
other, a little girl is thinking of
peace. The film has won many awards
around the globe in past years also,
like International Short Film

The $500 World Peace Music Award
was given to the music video
World Peace (and how I brought it)
by Matthew Cutts, Germany.
‘World
Peace (and how I brought it)’,
short music video, 3 minutes and 31
seconds, Germany. Matthew Cutts
created this music video based on a
true story.
While out for a
walk one day, a good Kiwi lad,
living in Europe, sets off a chain
reaction which not only leads to a
tasty barbie, but to lasting World
Peace. This is his story, (as told
in a letter to his Mum). The music
entries were judged on the basis of
rhythm, composition, presentation
and lyrics. The goal of the music
video is to make one person smile.
Make one person think. And who
knows, maybe get one person to
whistle the tune as they arrive for
another day at the office. Who knows
where it might lead?
